About CFA Institute Global Investment Research Challenge
Unique opportunity for students worldwide
The challenge gathers students, investment industry professionals, publicly traded companies, and corporate sponsors together locally, regionally, and globally for a real world competition.
Not just an exercise
In order to promote best practices in equity research and company analysis, students research, analyze, and report on a company as if they are practicing analysts.
Additionally, all participants are introduced to and held to the standard of the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.
How the Challenge works
Local CFA societies host and launch an Investment Research Challenge in conjunction with the participating universities. The universities assemble teams of 3-5 business and finance students who work directly with a company in researching and preparing a company analysis.
The team's final presentations are locally evaluated by high-profile panels of heads of research, portfolio managers, and chief investment officers from the world's top firms.
Students receive real-world training in equity analysis
Business and finance students interact with investment professionals and top firms while getting real-world experience in equity analysis, sell-side research report writing, and presentation skills. Just to be chosen to participate is an accomplishment that will enhance a student's resume. The global winners also gain a significant grant for their school or university.
Professionals contribute impactfully and efficiently
Investment professionals teach best practices and promote ethical decision making to the future generation of financial professionals in one of a variety of roles.
Public companies promote education and analyst independence
Companies give back to the community and tap into local talent while gaining unbiased research and opinions from student teams.
Universities gain global exposure
Universities gain international media attention, which can help set the university apart from other business schools.
Corporate sponsors reach top tier universities, students, and finance professionals
Corporate sponsors can reach local, regional, and global markets by sponsoring the Global Investment Research Challenge. Several sponsorship packages are available
